Our “Why”

Hard work is no longer enough, we must be smart with what we earn.

Before the internet, investors couldn’t do much without hiring a stockbroker. The explosion of the internet in the early 2000s brought a tremendous amount of information about investing to the average person – but stockbrokers still remained in the doorway to accessing the markets. Eventually platforms such as Charles Schwab, e*Trade, and many others provided a direct path for investors to handle their own investments. Through this technological evolution, the value Financial Advisors deliver has been whittled down while their fees remain high.

The dirty little secret of personal finance is that it’s not rocket science! There has been a distinct lack of financial education provided to students, young employees, and even high earners. Once people start their families and put the rest of their focus on their careers, there simply isn’t enough time for most people to become experts in personal finance on their own. Given our foundation in financial literacy and education, Buckman & Company is well-positioned to empower clients with the financial concepts, planning tools, and comprehensive analysis to maximize the value of your time.

Wise investors capitalize on the years between today and retirement, compounding their savings and fostering an important source of passive income. Ben Franklin summed it up this way: “Money makes money. And the money that money makes, makes money.” Investing your time wisely will generate assets that can work hard for you in the background. Year after year. Even while you’re on vacation!

This chart shows that if a person were to save one dollar per month and earn an annualized return of 10% (roughly the long-term average for the stock market), they would have put in $625 (blue line) and ended up with more than $21,000 (orange line)! But if you include the industry average 1% fee on assets under management paid each December to their hypothetical Financial Advisor, the investor would have given away a third of their entire nest egg (red line)… ouch.

These Financial Advisors do offer valuable services, though only the wealthiest clients are able to benefit from them – such as using specialized trusts for generational wealth planning and advanced tax planning. For those with more modest savings balances, why pay for all the services that aren’t being used? Let us help you keep more of what your investments earn, while providing the same (or in our humble opinion, far better) level of service and expertise one would expect from a big bank.

Buckman & Company has built an advisory platform that offers all of the key financial planning and wealth management services commonly provided by big banks, while leaving the more advanced services to the traditional providers. Such a model enables us to provide white glove financial advisory services at a much more reasonable cost.

Don’t wait to begin making the right financial moves for your family. Let Buckman & Company help you invest your time wisely in order to keep more of what you earn and make the most of your financial future.

Let’s do better. Together.
